Sublimation is the process of applying an image to specially coated ceramics, metals and polyester cloth using dye sublimation ink, heat, and pressure.
Dye Sublimation inks are unique in their ability to convert from a solid to a gas without going through a liquid form. The conversion is initiated by heat and controlled with pressure and time. Solid items such as ceramic, fiberboard and metals require a special 'factory applied' coating to accept dye sublimation inks.
Dye Sublimation inks are applied directly to 100% polyester fabrics (eg. mouse pads) without the need for pre-coating. Printing is done on 'heat transfer' paper, which has a special finish on the surface to prevent the inks from soaking into the paper. The transfer paper is then placed on the product to be heat and pressure applied.
InkTec's range of Dye Sublimation Inks & Dye Sublimation Paper, have been specially formulated to make images transfer better under heat and pressure, producing rich, deep and brilliant colours.
Dye Sublimation inks are suitable for certain Epson inkjet printers having an 'On-Demand Inkjet (Piezoelectric)' vibrating printhead. They are not suitable for other brands/models with 'Thermal-Type' printheads.
